Benissa is one of the oldest towns on the Costa Blanca.
It was given its name by it's Moorish population in 720 and translates as " sons of Isa ", a tribe that ruled Benissa for over five centuaries.
Today it's borders stretch in an almost rectangular fashion to the mediterreanean coastline , featuring mainly small bays and cliffs and then inland reaching the mountain ranges of Bernia and the Sierra de Oltá. Benissa countryside is made up of mainly vineyards and trees such as almond and carob.
A large ravine, Barranc del Quisi, separates Benissa from the coast and holds many old properties that have been restored including a watermill from the XV centuary, known as El Moli del Quisi.
