Marnes was one of the many farmhouse hamlets that were depopulated following the expulsion of the Moors in the year 1609. This situation meant that Pedro Ixer Montagut, baron of Jalon-Llíber, was forced to establish cropland in favour of the Mallorcan settlers, that arrived from Santa Margarita and Llucmajor.

After the segregation from the neighbouring town of Jalon in 1645, Lliber claimed ownership of this lovely area.

Today Marnes is home to several rural guest houses,as the area is a hiker and nature lovers paradise, offering impressive mountain views and untouched nature to the visitor.
